The (potential) savior arrives tonight as David Lee makes his triumphant return to the team. The Warriors will need a boost after the loss in Memphis, and the late start last night won’t be doing them any favors. What to watch for tonight:

  • Beef Injection. With a few notable exceptions (such as last night), the Warriors have been getting destroyed inside since Lee went out with his elbow injury. How much of an impact will he have tonight, considering that he couldn’t even get his heart rate up for a week and a half? At the very least, his enthusiasm, defensive communication, and great hands on the boards have to be an improvement over what we’ve seen the past two weeks. The question is whether it will be enough to spur a win on a road back-to-back.
  • No Love. WP48 credits Kevin Love with 4.1 wins — and no other Timberwolf (sp?) has generated even one (Anthony Tolliver, of all people, is second on the team with .7). Keep him relatively quiet and the Warriors should have an excellent chance to win the game. We’ve already seen what Love can do this year, so this will be quite the matchup for Lee on his return. I’d like to see Adrien work on Love a bit as well, as his bodying up on Zach Randolph slowed the Grizzlies’ biggest post-presence last night.
  • Day Old Beans. Biedrins looks like a completely different player last night, with great energy, smooth moves, and soft hands. Can’t expect him to be similarly dominant on the back end of a back-to-back (especially since he played over 40 minutes last night), but it would be great to see him build on last night and at least show similar energy in spurts tonight.

Ugly … Biedrins picks up his 4th foul in the 1st half, but has 11 of the team’s 13! first half rebounds. I am not sure how that beef injection is working out. Good to have him back but he’s obviously not fit.

The one thing that Nellie was great at that Smart seems to be awful at is getting anything out of the bench. 2 first half bench points is pathetic. Now some of it is that the bench is so much worse than it was in years past, so not all on Smart’s shoulders, but past benches had been built from the D-league and performed better.

  • Jake

On a positive note it is nice to see them run a bit more this game.

  • Jake

Gotta say I am digging the two-tone wood floor at Target Center. Looks like it is Beasley that is going to have the career game … and how was that not a foul on him on the Gadzuric dunk?

    • Jake

I was wrong on Beasley having a career night for sure.

  • Jake

D-Wright found his shot tonight. Hope it continues because they are going to need it.

I watched most of the first half but had to step out for a minute right before half time. Just catching up and:
    1) Extremely glad I didn’t witness that biedrins foul
    2) how ’bout that third quarter?

    • Jake

Yeah that was one hell of a 3rd. Let’s hope they can hang on. Not feeling too confident. Smart gets a technical which can make this a single digit lead.

  • Jake

And finally some bench points. Now they just need to hold on.

  • Jake

W’s got away with one there with the foul call on Love. Def on Biedrins … and now they are falling apart. 16(18?) point lead now 11

  • Jake

And there is #5 on Biedrins. Playing an aggressive game but getting called for fouls unlike last night. May have been the most impressive part of his game last night. What was it 41 minutes with only 3 fouls?

  • Jake

And #5 on Curry. He really seems to be regressing right now.

  • Jake

Fucking hell. WTF was Lee thinking. Jesus. Falling. the. fuck. apart.

  • Jake

    Oh Monta.

  • Jake

Even though they have gotten points these last few trips down the court the offensive sets have been chaos and not in a good way.

  • Jake

Sucking air … and #6 on Biedrins. That is going to hurt. Dude has been damn good again tonight on the boards and on D.

  • Jake

    Get. A. Rebound

  • Jake

How about Dorrell Wright?! El Fuego

  • Jake

Def Gadzuric’s best game as a Warrior.

  • Jake

    Good win!

Man, I’m glad I was still safely back in the 3rd quarter catching up while they were struggling toward the end. They needed this one bad.
