The road trip continues in Philadelphia, with an early evening start against the surging 76ers. What to watch for tonight:

  • Smart Coaching. I’d consider this game to be a good test of Keith Smart’s coaching: they played a good game in Boston, so can they build on it or will they regress? Too often this year, the Warriors have played well in a loss against an elite team, and then followed it up with a stinker — and I blame coaching for those sorts of weak rebounds. Tonight gives a perfect chance to once again test that pattern.
  • Moar Monta. Monta is coming off his best game in weeks. Can he continue his surge back to his early season form, or will he throw up another volume 6-26 shooting night?
  • The Rook. Ekpe got the start against Boston, but only played 12 minutes (partly, I would assume, because the Celtics went small most of the night). Can he stay on the floor a bit longer tonight and even pull down a handful of rebounds? While he’s become a solid defensive player, it would be great to see him make a bit of progress in terms of scoring and rebounding before the season ends.

Thornton looks like he can score at will. I guess that’s the one thing people say he can actually do…

Maggette-ish but probably better than the Maggette we knew and more like early years Maggette 90210. I don’t hate his game but not sure it is the answer.

The maggette comparison does seem pretty apt. But much more athletic so hopefully he could play some D if he actually tried.

Maybe post about this later but don’t have all that much to say about it but the Lacob interview with TK was highly disappointing. The HUGE defense of Lee and Riley was not what I was looking for.

Ooh, haven’t read it yeah. Lacob really stepped in it with that “real fan” comment though — even with the explanation, since when do you have to be a season ticket holder to be able to have a valid opinion?

    oh man Monta

Those were huge shots. Just too bad they couldn’t make it pay off in OT.
