These are starting to write themselves. The Warriors couldn’t shoot, were outclassed inside yet again with Lee out, had to over-rotate to protect the middle (usually against Anthony), and gave up constant wide open looks from 3. The one bright spot last night was the solid effort from the bench, an effort that was ultimately wasted by inept play down the stretch (feltbot argues that bringing Gadzuric back in at the end killed their chances — as usual, hard to disagree).

On defense, Carmelo just destroyed the Warriors. They regularly doubled him — leaving their shooters, including Harrington multiple times, wide open at the arc — and he still took 17 shots from the line (making all of them). If Lacob was sitting courtside last night, I’d have to imagine that Anthony’s 39 points and complete dominance led to a dangerously large puddle of drool.

On the other end, all non-Carney Warriors couldn’t hit a shot to save their lives. Monta’s shot was flat all night on route to a 7-22 line, Curry was barely better at 8-21, and Wright was again invisible offensively (and has begun passing up open shots at the arc). Wright’s inability to defend Anthony should also be noted.

After the hot start, the Warriors have returned to .500. They now head out on a road trip filled with winnable games, though I’m not sure I’d call them that with the way the team is currently playing. With a stretch of seven playoff teams upon their return to Oakland, we can only hope that they manage to pull a few of these off and avoid a goose-egg on the roadie.
