Good to see Udoh step up his rebounding game, with 7 boards in a season-high 38 minutes. He also led the team in scoring with 15 — and from the sound of it (I didn’t watch) he actually showed off some nice moves.

Other than that though, the box score doesn’t provide much to get excited about, and in the team stats the Warriors were once again outshot, outassisted, and killed in the paint. Though I do need to give them credit for winning the rebounding battle, with boards well-distributed throughout the team.

But the end result was a loss, and now the 30-41 Warriors head to Houston to finish up the road trip. And looking at the remaining schedule, 3-8 does not seem out of the question for the rest of the season.

Once again we’ll just watch for reasons to get optimistic about the future: can Udoh stay on the floor against one of the craftiest big guys in the league? Can Curry keep Parker in front of him? (Don’t laugh.) Can Thornton make the rest of the team better at all? And would it kill Smart to just play Adrien at least 10 minutes? After all, what’s the worst that could happen: You lose the game by 30 points and set a season low in points scored? Because that just happened last night — might as well try to get something positive out of it.

The Spurs rode an incredibly balanced attack on the way to victory: 6 players in double-digits, and 46 points off their bench. Meanwhile, only two players really came to play for the Warriors: David Lee posted an encouraging 31 points (his season high) along with 12 rebounds, and the other stats that jumps out of the box score is Dorell Wright’s 9 assists, which he paired with 18 points and 7 rebounds (dude is probably the second most likely to have a triple-double on this team after Curry — shows how well rounded he’s become).

But with Monta and Curry both cold (shooting a combined 16 of 41, nearly half of the Warriors 85 total shots from the field), Biedrins once again posting a team-low -18 (when was the last time he scored a point?), and little help from the bench (the low-light of which was probably Reggie Williams’ 0 points and -11 in 14 minutes), a win against the Spurs was going to be tough to come by. Gotta play the best to beat the best.

As noted in the preview, this was an unsurprising loss. Still, it was unfortunate they couldn’t put up a stronger fight given the contribution from Reggie Williams off the bench (a sign of things to come?). After closing within a few points late in the second, the Spurs proved themselves the better team by running the margin up to 10 before half time. After that, they never looked back.

With 6 players in double-digits, the Spurs ultimately made things look pretty easy. The Warriors lost Curry early to a re-aggravated ankle (though he still managed a -15 in only 10 minutes), and with Monta going 7-24 there was never really a path to victory.

Aside from Reggie, the Warriors got one of their better recent games from David Lee, and Amundson again provided quality minutes off the bench. It’s nice to see the Warriors with more combination options up front (soon to get even better with Udoh’s return tonight), though also unfortunate that Biedrins is making himself so easy to pull off the court. Hell, Amundson has seemed like the better scoring option since he’s come back.

The roadie is now mercifully over, and only two games left in the murder stretch. With the Warriors having lost 10 of 11, a softer stretch in the schedule can’t come soon enough.
