Really nice win, as the Warriors hung tight throughout, built up a nice little lead in the 4th, and then hung on when the Mavericks made a late run (aided by some poor Warriors’ decision making).

Stat of the game: 22-24. That’s the Warriors mark from the line, 3.2 above their season average in attempts and well above that in terms of makes, and they even managed 4 more attempts than the Mavericks. If they can get to the line — and make them — this team can really hang in there.

Monta kept the team in the game through the first three quarters, then went strangely silent in the 4th. But Al Thornton picked up the slack, with 12 points and 9 rebounds off the bench — most of that in the final period. Amundson also came up big off the bench with 8 points and 10 rebounds.

So all-in-all a feel good win against a quality team that still has a lot to play for in terms of playoff positioning. It’s just too bad they couldn’t do this more consistently throughout the season.

The Mavericks visit Oracle tonight on the heels of an ugly loss at the Lakers. Given their success against the Warriors this season, they’ll likely be looking at tonight as an opportunity to get back on track. At this stage in the season, the only thing I’m really looking for are good performances from Udoh and Curry. And if Monta wants to show he hasn’t quit on the season, and Lee wants to leave a positive final impression heading into the offseason, then more power to them.

The Warriors looked every bit like a team on the back half of a back-to-back, as they were playing well until they absolutely hit the wall a few minutes into the 3rd. From there, they were outscored by 29 points in the final 20+ minutes.

The Grizzlies ate the Warriors up inside, and didn’t even need a big rebounding advantage to do it. They scored 74 points in the paint, and only took four 3′s (the Warriors shot 21 times from behind the arc — and only made 6).

Tonight it was Curry who lost his shooting stroke, putting up a Monta-esque 2-14 from the field and a so-so 9 points and 6 turnovers — one more turnover than the entire Memphis team combined.

Thus ends the short road trip, as the Warriors get a few days off before a home date with Dallas on Saturday.

Can’t say I’m optimistic about this one — one night after the starters play big minutes in an overtime loss, they travel to Memphis to play a team that is holding on to the final playoff spot in the west. That said, the Warriors have played well in their last few games, so maybe they can surprise. They’ll need the bench to actually show up tonight, and let’s just hope that Monta and Wright bring a better shooting stroke — though tired legs aren’t exactly a recipe for success on that front…

A hearbreaker of a loss, but great to see that this team still has fight left in it. Those back-to-back 3′s at the end of regulation were almost legendary, and had me scaring the hell out of my 4-month-old with my yells. Sadly, they couldn’t recreate the magic at the end of OT, but still a good showing against a playoff team on the road.

Curry brought his A offensive game — as he usually does against the Thunder — though his PG stats (5 assists/6 turnovers) were once again lacking. Monta on the other hand continued his hot streak in terms of distribution, with double-digit assists for the third straight game.

Udoh continued to make his presence felt defensively, and Lee did a good job playing big with 15 boards to go with 24 points (even with Perkins, the Warriors continue to match up inside against the Thunder better than they seemingly do anyone else).

Only Wright disappointed among the starters with a 2-13 shooting night, and he still managed to pull down 10 boards and post a team-high +10. And looking at the overall +/- stats, this game was clearly lost by the bench: all positive for the starters, all double-digit negative for the reserves — only 3 of whom played, totaling just 35 minutes.

Overall, I guess this is the sort of result you want at this point — great effort, but lottery position preserved.

The Warriors head back out on the road tonight in Oklahoma City against a Thunder team that they’ve matched up well against so far this year. That said, the prior meetings were before the Thunder acquired Kendrick Perkins, so that could make a big difference tonight. You’d have to imagine that Ekpe will have his hands full tonight, but it’s also a good chance to prove himself against a veteran who nonetheless is hardly explosive. The backcourt matchup will also be interesting, with Westbrook going up against Monta and Curry — they bottled him up decently this time, so it will be “fun” to see if they can do it again.

So how much do you discount a win like this because of the competition? The Wizards have won a grand total of 1 game on the road this year, and for a while it looked like they might pick up #2 in Oakland. But the Warriors did a good job of taking control about half way through the final period, and even looked like a decent team while they did it.

Ellis looked great tonight with 37, 7, and 12, and his 360 layup was truly a thing of beauty. David Lee also brought it with a season-high 33 points to go along with 12 rebounds, and Ekpe played big minutes once against and even managed to snag a very respectable 7 boards.

Curry’s night was mixed, as he was hampered by fouls — yet again — and had just 4 assists to 5 turnovers. The bench was similarly unimpressive, providing just 11 points and only 48 minutes to spell the starters.

Now the competition gets tough again, starting on the road against the Thunder on Tuesday. The Warriors have put a nice little run together against two inferior teams, so once again we get to see if they can build off this sort of momentum and keep it up against quality teams.

The Warriors welcome the Wizards to Oracle for one of their last winnable games (only the Kings game stands out in their remaining schedule after this). The Warriors hung on in the previous meeting in Washington behind a big game from Curry, so let’s see if he can keep up his strong performance from Friday and continue building toward a strong finish to the season.

Well, that had to feel good! The Warriors blew the doors off the joint in the first half, scoring a league-high 84 points before the break. Four starters broke the 20 point barrier, and both members of the starting backcourt were over +40 on the +/-. They shot over 60% from the field, and just a shade below that from three.

Sure, it’s the Raptors, and yeah they ran the score up there a bit by keeping the starters in with a nearly 50-point lead, but it was nice to see that this team can still put the ball in the basket. I just wish that they’d try to play this way more often this year — sure, you aren’t going to win championships by outscoring the opposition, but these Warriors aren’t going to win with defense and rebounding (the one stat they lost on Friday night) either and at least this style is a lot more fun to watch.

Another game with the Warriors up against NCAA tourney play, and I can’t say I’ll be watching the game from the Association. That said, should be a decent chance for the Warriors to win, as the Raptors have been fairly terrible in recent weeks.

Will be interesting to see who wins the rebounding battle between Udoh and the similarly-board-challenged Bargnani, who nonetheless is putting together a solid season. But more important, I hope that Curry can shake his recent poor play and put together a complete game for the first time in a while. We’re starting to run out of games and I’d love to see him get a few solid performances under his belt before he hits the offseason.
